Ordering & Shipping
Orders are typically roasted, packaged, and shipped within 1–3 business days. Domestic U.S. delivery usually arrives within 3–7 business days depending on your location.
At this time we ship within the United States only. International shipping may be added in the future.
Yes. Once your order ships, you will receive an email with a tracking number so you can follow your package from the roastery to your door.
Because coffee is a perishable food product, we do not accept returns of opened or used coffee. If there is an issue with your order (damage, wrong item, or quality concern), contact us within 14 days of delivery at gonzoadventuresllc@gmail.com and we will work with you toward a replacement or refund. We never require customers to return coffee products.
Coffee & Freshness
Your coffee is roasted to order by Temecula Coffee Roasters after you place your order, typically within 1–2 business days. It ships fresh, not from warehouse stock.
Store your coffee in an airtight container away from heat, light, and moisture. A cool, dark pantry works well. Avoid the refrigerator or freezer for everyday beans; the condensation cycle hurts flavor. Freeze only if storing for longer than a month.
Specialty grade coffee scores 80 points or above on the Specialty Coffee Association's 100-point scale. It means no primary defects, proper moisture content, and distinctive, clean flavor attributes. All of our coffees meet this standard.
Single-origin coffees come from one specific country or region, allowing you to taste the distinct characteristics of that place: the soil, altitude, and processing method. Blends combine beans from multiple origins to create a consistent flavor profile, often balancing brightness, body, and sweetness.
Grind Guide
Order Whole Bean and grind coarse at home with a burr grinder. A coarser grind slows extraction during the 4-minute steep for a full-bodied cup without bitterness. See /blog/how-to-brew-french-press-coffee and /blog/choosing-your-coffee-grind for details.
Choose Drip Grind for automatic drip machines and pour-over methods like Chemex or V60. It balances extraction speed with flavor for the most versatile everyday cup. See /blog/how-to-brew-drip-coffee-at-home.
Order Whole Bean and grind coarse at home. Cold water needs a longer contact time (12–24 hours) with a coarser grind to extract flavor without bitterness. See /blog/cold-brew-for-farm-work.
Absolutely, and we recommend it for peak freshness and for French press, cold brew, and moka pot (each needs a different grind size at home). Grinding just before brewing releases the most aromatic compounds. If you own a burr grinder, whole bean is always the freshest option.
Giving Back
Yes. Saltbox Coffee Co. is a veteran-owned small business, founded and operated by a U.S. veteran. That identity is part of why we support the Farmer Veteran Coalition through our Saltbox Gives Back pledge. See /gives-back for details on our 1% revenue, product, and time commitment.
Yes. Inspired by the Pledge 1% movement, Saltbox Coffee Co. pledges 1% of gross revenue, 1% of product, and 1% of our time to support veteran farmers through the Farmer Veteran Coalition (https://farmvetco.org). See /gives-back for details.
FVC helps veterans transition into farming and ranching through training, resources, networking, and grants. Their mission, mobilizing veterans to feed America, aligns directly with our founder's background as a veteran and our connection to rural and agricultural life.
Revenue. We donate 1% of gross sales, not profit. Revenue is simple and transparent: 1% of every sale goes to support veterans pursuing careers in agriculture.
About Saltbox Coffee Co.
All of our coffee is roasted fresh to order by Temecula Coffee Roasters, a family-owned specialty roaster in Temecula, California. They handle roasting, quality control, labeling, and shipping for every Saltbox order.
12oz bags ship in certified home-compostable packaging. 2lb and 5lb bags are not available in compostable packaging and ship in standard black bags. Check the label on your bag for disposal instructions.
We do not display third-party certification marks on our site unless Saltbox is enrolled in those programs and the specific product qualifies. Our roasting partner sources specialty-grade coffee and roasts each order fresh. Contact us if you have questions about a particular coffee.
We are working on a subscription option for recurring orders. We will announce it via email when it is available.
